USE OF HAIR COSMETICS Hair cosmetics are substances that are applied to a persons hair to cleanse or promote attractiveness. An ideal hair cosmetic is one that serves both these purposes. Commonest hair cosmetics include Hair oils, Shampoos, Conditioners, Sprays, Styling gels or lotions, Dyes or Bleaches. Commonest in use are Hair oils, shampoos. HAIR OILS Most women (and men too) use shampoos to cleanse the hair. This shows the acceptance, that hair need different cleansing agents than the skin. Hordes of shampoos are available. For dry hair, for oily hair, with conditioners and what not. There are special anti dandruff shampoos available. You have to decide on a particular brand shampoo after talking with your family physician (if there is an associated medical problem) or your physician. You should not change shampoos often. Hair is most important for better appearance and should be treated accordingly. Only if the situation warrants should one change a shampoo. Few tips after shampooing (if you have excess hair fall)
Other hair cosmetics like conditioners, sprays, styling gel, dyes etc. should not be used if there is excessive hair fall. There are no guidelines which can tell which particular brand will suit a particular person. At best, it can only be a trial and error method. One point of caution Just because a shampoo has HERBAL written large over it , does not make it worthy of using. Look for the manufacturer and their reputation in the market. Dry hair may be washed once a week whereas oily hair may need to be washed more often.
