HSV-1

  • Oral secretions.
  • Contacts of infected saliva with active wounds.
  • Transplacental

HSV-2

  • Sexual transmission.
  • Transplacental

SYMPTOMS

HSV-1

  • Frequently asymptomatic. Causes severe disease in the newborn.
  • Irritation of throat, gums and eyes.
  • Presence of lesions.

HSV-2

  • Fever, Malaise, anorexia.
  • Presence of lesions

EFFECTS

HSV-1

Gingivitis, Stomatitis, Herpes labial, Conjunctivitis, Kaposi sarcoma, Encephalitis.

HSV-2
