FOLLICLE STIMULATING HORMONE (FSH)

Clinical significance

FSH is a hormone secreted by anterior pituitary gland. In women, FSH is responsible for the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles.

Clinical applications

  • Prediction of response to super ovulatory drugs.
  • Diagnosis of ovulatory disorders
  • Ovulation prediction
  • Work up of a case of infertility
  • Along with LH in predicting ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHS).
