SIXTH WEEK
By the end of the sixth
week, the foetus measures about 6 mm. Changes in the growing foetus include development
of:
- Chest and abdominal cavities.
- A simple from of brain, spinal cord and the spine.
- Tiny limb buds at corners of the body
- A simple form of heart, which begins to beat and these heartbeats can be detected
through ultrasound.
- Initial parts of the stomach and intestine.
- Tiny depressions where the eyes and ears will develop and beginning of the mouth and
jaw.
