A doctor, who has specialized in Anesthesia takes charge of anesthesia.

Do I have to pay separately for the anesthesia?
Yes! An anesthetist is a specialist just as your surgeon is and his services are paid for separately.

How will the anesthetist know whether I am asleep or completely anesthetized?
There are many clinical tests, which prove positively that a patient is asleep.

Does it ever happen that the surgeon starts operating before the patient is fully anesthetized?
No!

Can a patient choose his own anesthetic medium?
No, this is the responsibility of the anesthetist and the surgeon. However, the patient should definitely state his preference and if it conforms to the operation to be performed, the surgical team usually grants the choice.

Do patients ever give away important secrets while talking as they undergo anesthesia?
No. This is a common misconception.
