TENTH WEEK

By the end of this week, the baby is about 4.5 cm long and weighs about five grams. Normal development includes:

  • Continued development of the eyes, which can be easily recognized below the unformed eyelids.
  • Completion of the inner parts of the ear.
  • Beginning of the development of the external part of the ear.
  • Continued development of the internal organs.
  • Formation of ankles and wrists and further development of fingers and toes.
  • Proper formation of the umbilical cord through which the mother’s blood circulates in foetus.
