PICKLED RED CABBAGE: 
No cooking 
  - Cut the cabbage into shreds
 
  - Put into a basin with a good sprinkling of salt between
    each layer
 
  - Leave for 24 hours
 
  - Drain thoroughly, pack into jars and pour over the cold
    spiced vinegar
 
  - For quantities of spiced vinegar see pickled cucumbers.
