Sauces for Slimmers

APPLE CHUTNEY

Cooking time – 45 minutes

You will need:

  • 900 g of cooking apples
  • 500 gms large onions
  • 350 gms seedless raisins
  • 3 gills malt vinegar
  • 4 artificial sweetener tablets
  • 2 tsps powdered ginger
  • 1 tblspn salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

METHOD

  1. Peel and core apples and peel onions.
  2. Chop both finely with the raisins
  3. Add rest of ingredients and put into saucepan.
  4. Simmer till the mixture is quite soft then add the artificial sweetener tablets or sugar substitute.
  5. Stir well and beat to a pulp
  6. When cold put into 1lb jars and cover securely
  7. This chutney is ready for use at once, or will keep for a long while.
